^{MEFIS-Izmir is pleased to announce the results of its first-ever Checkpoint Exminations.  Each student in Grade 8 took a series of exams in English, Mathematics, and Science this past March.  Despite having never participated in such external exams at our school, we are proud of student results.  Scores are out of 6.0 and the ‘average’ Cambridge student scores between 3.0 and 4.0 on these examinations.  In English, our students scored 3.3 on average.  What is especially pleasing about this result is the fact that only one of our students is a native English speaker.  Students are not given any accomodation for not having English as their mother tongue.  In Mathematics, our students scored an average of 3.7 and, in Science, they fared even better with an average score of 3.9, which is in the high average range! Overall, these results indicate that our students have tended to earn high average scores this year.  We are proud our students and we look forward to supporting them as appropriate in order that we can beat these scores next year!  Thank you to our teachers for the hard work and commitment they give our students.  It is paying off!}
